Southbound!
We didn't have big plans to stay here but with a name like "Hot Springs" we couldn't just drive pass Bill Clinton's hometown...
Sounds enticing! HOT SPRINGS... in caves, or spas, perhaps?
Nope! Actually, to bathe in the hot springs you have to go to a bathhouse. While many of the buildings that served as bathhouses still stand (on Bathhouse Row), only 2 of them still serve as bathhouses today. The others have turned into gift/retail shops, restaurants/cafes, and this visitors' center/museum.
This is what a typical bathhouse looked like, back in some CREEPY days
The water coming out of that fountain is hot spring water: 143°F (62 °C)
